Meet Angela Rodriguez-Canales

Attorney, Advocate, and Founder of the Law Offices of Angela Rodriguez

Attorney  (Abogada)

Angela Rodriguez-Canales is an experienced attorney admitted to practice in New Jersey and New York. Her practice includes affirmative immigration law, New Jersey real estate matters, appeals and post-conviction relief, and selected administrative, MVC, and municipal matters.

Angela believes effective representation begins with understanding what is truly at stake for the client. A legal matter may affect far more than a court date, agency notice, contract, or application. It may affect a family’s stability, a person’s ability to work or drive, ownership of a home, a business investment, immigration status, or future opportunities.

Through the firm’s guiding philosophy, Empowering Lives Through Humanity in Law, Angela provides representation grounded in compassion, clarity, preparation, and honest legal guidance.

Professional Journey

Angela was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, and raised in Paterson, New Jersey. She graduated from Eastside High School and earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from William Paterson University in Wayne, New Jersey.

She later earned her Juris Doctor from Western Michigan University Cooley Law School, graduating with honors.

Angela has devoted much of her career to public service, advocacy, and helping individuals navigate complex legal systems. Her professional experience includes private practice, government service, appellate advocacy, administrative matters, immigration representation, and work involving criminal, municipal, family, and general civil law.

After working in both public service and private practice, Angela established the Law Offices of Angela Rodriguez to provide a more thoughtful and client-centered approach to legal representation.

Humanity in Law

Angela understands that clients often seek legal help during periods of uncertainty. They may be afraid of losing their immigration status, driving privileges, property, livelihood, or an opportunity to challenge an unfavorable decision.

Her approach is to listen carefully, explain the law in understandable terms, identify potential risks, and help clients make informed decisions. Clients receive honest guidance about their options, the strengths and limitations of their matter, and the practical consequences of available legal strategies.

Humanity in Law does not mean avoiding difficult conversations. It means treating clients with dignity while providing candid, responsible, and carefully prepared legal representation.

Connection to the Community

Angela’s connection to Paterson and the surrounding North Jersey community remains central to her professional identity. Having grown up in Paterson, she understands the importance of accessible legal guidance, community education, and representation that respects clients’ language, culture, and individual circumstances.

She is committed to mentoring future legal professionals and encouraging students from traditionally underrepresented communities to pursue careers in law, public service, and leadership.

Services are available in English and Spanish.
